The Engine Block opened in 2024 and is run by Jeff, a Danville mechanic with more than 20 years of hands-on experience in the local automotive scene. He's not just a mechanic. He's a car guy who built this shop around two things: doing the work right and being straight with people about it.
Whether you're coming in for an oil change or a larger mechanical repair, the same approach applies: clear communication, fair pricing, and no run-around. We work on a wide range of makes and models. Ask about any parts or labor coverage for your specific repair before work begins. If daytime drop-off does not fit your schedule, the key box is out front.

From oil changes and Virginia inspections to diagnostics, brake work, A/C service, and larger mechanical repairs, we'll explain what the vehicle needs and why before work begins.
Diagnostics
Check engine lights, drivability problems, and electrical issues. We diagnose what is actually happening before recommending parts or repairs.
Engine & Transmission Work
Engine diagnosis, tear-down, repair and replacement, plus transmission service and replacement. We assess the engine before discussing repair, assembly or rebuild options; machining is not performed in-house. Performance engine builds and swaps go through The Forge.
Brakes & Suspension
Brake pad and rotor replacement, calipers, suspension components, shocks and struts. Safety work done right and at a fair price.
Air Conditioning
A/C diagnosis, recharge, and repair. If your cabin isn't cooling the way it should, we'll find the cause and fix it.
State Inspections
Virginia state vehicle inspections. Call ahead so we can confirm inspection availability and the best time to bring the vehicle in.
